Lacy & Dalton * The Art of Joy in Oregon City

Lacy and Dalton were married at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City. Their reception was held at the home of a family friend who even arranged for a break in the weather so guests could enjoy festivities on the lawn and back patio. Well, I’m not actually sure their friends controlled the weather, but it was a spectacular setting for two people who could not be more adored by their families and friends!

Nicole & Taylor * The Art of Joy at The Melody Ballroom

Their Teaser Trailer slideshow is coming soon, but here is a preview of Nicole and Taylors adorable wedding at The Melody Ballroom. We met up with the couple at Foothills Park in Lake Oswego for their photo session, then headed downtown for the vow exchange where the father of the groom performed the service. Accents of pink and dozens of cameos adorned the reception. After dinner, toasts, cake, and dancing, the couple were sent off with whoops and approval and sparklers. It was a perfect ending to a very joyful day!

Tiffany & Chris * The Art of Joy at the Arista Ballroom

Here’s a little sneak peek at Tiffany and Chris’s Southeast Portland Wedding. The Arista Ballroom was the setting for the wedding and reception, but we took a spin down to Laurelhurst Park for some portraits beforehand. It turns out that Tiffany grew up across the street from the iconic Portland landmark so it was very touching to photograph the next stage of her life while commemorating a favorite childhood stomping ground. Then is was back to the Arista for a few more pictures, and the start of their life together. Congratulations Tiffany and Chris – keep an eye out for your Teaser Trailer slideshow!

Jenny & Jake * A Hometown Wedding in Vancouver Washington * The Art of Joy

Jenny and Jake chose to include all people and places meaningful in their lives when it came to their wedding. Their ceremony at 1st Presbyterian Church included the reading of First Corinthians by Jenny’s 100 year old Aunt Marion. A horsedrawn carriage carried the newlyweds down Main Street to a reception at the Columbia Dance Center. We even stopped at Jenny’s alma matter, The Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, for a quick photo session. All in all, a spectacular day!

It’s been really fun learning about the other aspects of the wedding industry. I’ve had a lot of fun photographing table settings by our wonderful event planners at The Wedding Lounge. If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you’re only limited by your imagination when it comes to reception decor. Here are a few images with some of the spectacular table settings from Barclay Event Rentals and La Table Fatale.

My fascination with decor is quickly rivaling my love of the bride’s shoes, so I’ll be posting more decor images in upcoming Shutter Monkey entries!

Brena & Paul get Married on Cannon Beach * The Art of Joy

The applause of family and friends actually drowned out the crash of the waves when Brena and Paul sealed their ceremony with a kiss and headed up the sandy aisle. It was a wonderful day of their personal stories, dancing into the reception at the Surfsand Resort, family songs at the toast, and even a little air guitar on the dance floor! Congratulations Brena & Paul, and thanks for letting us share your day!

Linda & Adam’s Wedding * The Art of Joy!

Our day with Linda and Adam started with a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony at the spectacular home of Linda’s parents. Following the ceremony and brunch, a celebration of marriage mass was held Our Lady of LaVang Parrish. After a portrait session on the beautiful grounds of the Parrish, the day concluded with a lively reception celebration at Legin restaurant. Thanks to Linda, Adam, and their families for including us in your fantastic event!

As you can see from the images, Linda was one busy bride on her wedding day! I loved the constant spirit and joy of the day from the morning Tea Ceremony, to a beautiful wedding Mass at Our Lady of La Vang Parrish, to the lively reception at Legin Restaurant.
