Brena & Paul get Married on Cannon Beach * The Art of Joy

The applause of family and friends actually drowned out the crash of the waves when Brena and Paul sealed their ceremony with a kiss and headed up the sandy aisle. It was a wonderful day of their personal stories, dancing into the reception at the Surfsand Resort, family songs at the toast, and even a little air guitar on the dance floor! Congratulations Brena & Paul, and thanks for letting us share your day!

As the mother of two boys, this statement should come as no surprise: I love photographing mothers and sons. When Aaron asked me to snap a quick photo before he seated his mom for his wedding to Melinda, it quickly turned into a series that both makes me laugh and warms my heart. I chose my favorite three for a story board.

I was invited to second shoot for Melinda and Aaron’s wedding by the lovely and talented (and new mom!) Angela Cardas. Keep an eye on the Cardas Photo{blog} for some stunning images from the wedding at Albany’s Finn Block Hall! I’ll also be posting a few of my favorites next week.

Allison & Randy’s Tie the Knot at Edgefield

Purple flowers and purple shoes set the jubilant tone of Allison and Randy’s Edgefield wedding. Soggy ground neccesitated the last minute change from The Meadow to The Amphitheater, but not one drop of rain dared to fall during the lovely ceremony (or during the entire day for that matter!) Yup, goes to show you, love conquers all – even the weather!

Our day with Linda and Adam started with a traditional Vietnamese Tea Ceremony at the spectacular home of Linda’s parents. Following the ceremony and brunch, a celebration of marriage mass was held Our Lady of LaVang Parrish. After a portrait session on the beautiful grounds of the Parrish, the day concluded with a lively reception celebration at Legin restaurant. Thanks to Linda, Adam, and their families for including us in your fantastic event!

As you can see from the images, Linda was one busy bride on her wedding day! I loved the constant spirit and joy of the day from the morning Tea Ceremony, to a beautiful wedding Mass at Our Lady of La Vang Parrish, to the lively reception at Legin Restaurant. We’ll have more of Adam and Linda’s wedding soon!

Don and Cathy invited family and friends to join them as they tied the knot on their beautiful property in rural Vancouver. Friends gathered and socialized with the couple until they were invited to the front lawn where the couple took a few minutes out of the festivities to exchange vows in a ceremony that was short and sweet (emphasis on sweet!) After the formalities, guests helped themselves a barbeque dinner, drinks and desserts.

Dan and Christie tied the knot at Portland’s St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. After the ceremony, the couple thoughtfully provided transportation for their guest to McMeniman’s Crystal Ballroom for a night of dinner and dancing.

Time for a recap: It was a brisk 16 degrees on the mountain (not including wind chill factor), but a warm and beautiful time inside Timberline Lodge as Aaron and Aslinn exchanged their vows in the Raven’s Nest. The morning ceremony was followed by a reception of a scrumptious brunch buffet, followed by toast, cake cutting, and dancing to a very special band!

Congrats Aaron and Aslinn!
