Andy and Annie were married at Timberline Lodge.  Brittney had the honors of shooting this gorgeous event in the shadow of Mt. Hood.

The Mt. Hood Bed and Breakfast was the setting for the day of joy!

Every place card included a handwritten Haiku – this one for Dear Sweet Aunt Marge was penned by Emily herself.

Family and friends shared a Tuscan Style dinner celebration.

We originally included then in honor of the holidays, then decided to keep them around for a while because of all the winter weather we’re having in the Northwest – especially the feet and feet (and feet!) of snow on Mt. Hood.

We always skied Alta on Christmas Eve. When we were little a designated Aunt or Uncle would take us, but as we grew up my cousins and I took it upon ourselves to drive up and spend the day on the slopes. We would come home, change and all gather for a huge dinner celebration that evening. JP grew up in Southern California, so they spent the day on the beach. In his family, the kids were allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve.

Well, our family is now in the Northwest, and we’re carving out our own traditions. Mt. Hood? Kind of far away (I was spoiled, we live 40 minutes from my front door to the chair lift at Alta.) The beach? In a word……..BBBBRRRRRRR!

Every Christmas Eve we bake and decorate the Christmas Train. The boys then decide which piece they want to eat, and which piece gets left for Santa.

We had a little technical difficulties with the cake itself this year, but the decorations were awesome!

You may not be surprised to learn that the boys REALLY liked the idea of opening a present on Christmas Eve, and a couple of years ago agreed to open their presents to each other.

They were very excited and put lots of thought into each others’ gifts this year, and I get all mushy thinking that this is a tradition they will carry on into adulthood.
